A computer monitor and smartphone showing the website of RedPen Notary LLC with the slogan "Making life easier, one stamp at a time!" and a person signing documents in the background.

Problem:

The client reached out to me and expressed dissatisfaction with the initial web design delivered by their former designer. They requested a more contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic for their online presence.

Solution:

Completely redesign the client’s website to align with their expectations.

Here is what the website looked like before:

Website homepage for Redpen Notary LLC featuring company logo, contact information, navigation menu, and services offered including 24/7 mobile notary, loan signing services, and officiant & weddings. Additional details about payment options, certifications, and social media icons are also displayed.

And this is what it looks like after my redesign:

Homepage of RedPen Notary LLC website featuring navigation menu, call to action buttons, images of people signing documents, and information about notarization services.

My process:

The client wanted to give her website a more modern, dynamic look. To make this happen, I had to dive in and get an understanding of her services and target audience. I wanted to keep her branding consistent throughout the design without overwhelming her visitors. Here’s how I made it happen:

  • I met with my client to understand what she liked about her current website and what we could improve. Together, we figured out the key information to keep in the redesign and decided on a thoughtful reorganization to make the user experience even better.

  • I reorganized the information from the original site and improved the copy to make it appeal to her target audience.

  • I strategically incorporated images and accents to seamlessly integrate her brand colors. This resulted in a visually cohesive design that effectively communicated her branding without overwhelming the viewer.

  • Once the redesign was complete, I enlisted several users to navigate the website. This helped determine if any usability issues made the site difficult to navigate. This also helped identify any broken links or inactive buttons. All issues were identified and resolved, resulting in a seamless user experience.

Digital Marketing:

Here are some social media graphics/templates I created for this client with the brand palette and design assets. My client wanted a retro 70s palette. I paired this with fun fonts that grab attention, while still maintaining readability:

Announcement graphic with text 'We're proud to announce RedPen Notary has joined the Kentucky Lake Chamber of Commerce!' featuring star motifs, a lightning bolt, and logos of Kentucky Lake and RedPen Notary.
A white card with blue and yellow text that reads "Did you know...? This could be a fun fact about the history of notaries!" placed on top of yellow and red cards on a blue background.
Decorative sign with the quote 'YOU'RE LEADING IS POWER!' in yellow and a blue cloud-shaped area with text about notary services, surrounded by orange flowers.
Text graphic with the phrase "Rule we all do is power!" in large blue letters around a red cloud shape. Inside the cloud, white text reads: "Did you know that you can complete a signing anywhere in the world with remote online notarization (RON) services?" The background is light beige with yellow flowers in the corners.
A promotional graphic for Redpen Notary featuring a testimonial from Shawn N., highlighting the convenience of mobile notary services that meet clients at the destination to save time and money.
Graphic design image with yellow and blue background, featuring large text 'REDDEN NOTARY' at the top, a white speech bubble in the center with placeholder text for a quote, and the word 'TESTIMONIALS' at the bottom.
A white card with text providing a historical fact about women not being allowed to become notaries in America until the early 1900s, placed on top of two other colored cards on a reddish-brown surface.
